After extending the deadline for 4 times, BTRC has finally given up and decided that any SIM card bought before 16th February 2007 which hasn’t been re-registered according to BTRC format – will be permanently Barred from the service. The SIM cards will be permanently rejected and will not be allowed to use again unless any acceptable reason are shown. BTRC has also imposed fine for any inappropriate sell/distribution of mobile phone connection by the phone operators. It is to mention that almost 70% of all the SIM cards were re-registered and the operators have confirmed BTRC that they can finish up within the timeline of 31st MAY 2008.
