I just heard a portion of the news on TV where BTRC chairman said that Bangladesh will be having her own satellite in the space within 5 years. The processing has already been started. That’s all I heard in the news. It really is a fascinating news for any Bangladeshi. Atlast BTRC is proving out to be something useful for Bangladesh.
if you even wait 50 years, you will never see a satellite of bd
BTRC Chairman Maj Gen (retd) Manzurul Alam said the commission is now working on the orbit data for the satellite. “We had the orbit available for our satellite long ago. We should have launched this satellite by now,” he said.
“The satellite may be launched as a joint venture or by the government. This will be worked out,” he said, adding that it will take one to two years for the country to prepare for the satellite and five to eight years to have this communications satellite operating in the orbit.
DAmn the orbits are getting so crowded:P,we all hope for the best.but about the submerine cable,it was installed long ago yet we dhaka peoples are hardly getting any advantage of it.same may occur for the satellite.lets see what hapens FINGERS CROSSED:P
History and my 34 years of life say that none should be very hopeful about Bangladesh.
Launching a satellite for Bangladesh, while seemingly a matter of National Pride, can only benefit the country if it is based on a solid business model and developed as a total solution – the spacecraft is only a part of a much larger picture. If education is to be recognized as the national imperative it is, the next logical step for the country – after Micro Finance and Rural Telephony – is satellite broadcasting. Satellites, better than any other available technology (to include WiMax), can provide ubiquitous coverage, at the lowest price, serving everyone in the country from the first say of service.
